The United States has attacked a water pump in the Iranian city of Mahshahr, killing at least one person and wounding four others, Iranian state media IRNA reported on Monday (July 13).
A senior official in Khuzestan province said a missile attack hit an agricultural water pumping station in Mahshahr, killing one person and wounding four others.
The deputy governor of the country's security and law enforcement agency, Valiullah Hayati, said the attack took place early this morning. The deceased was in charge of security at the facility, reported on Al Jazeera.
He also said that emergency and medical services department personnel are monitoring the medical and physical condition of the injured.
Meanwhile, explosions were heard in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian news agencies Mehr and Fars News reported this information at around 10:30 pm Bangladesh time on Sunday (July 12). However, the cause of the explosion is not yet known, the news agencies said.
Shortly after, Hossein Amir, the governor of Kesham Island, said that 10 to 11 objects (possibly missiles) launched by the enemy had hit the island.
He told the IRNA news agency that all attacks targeted military infrastructure and that no casualties had been reported so far.
Earlier, the United States launched a massive attack on Iran's coastal areas overnight. In response, Iran launched drones and missiles targeting US military installations in five countries in the Gulf Arab region.
