Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed to have launched a missile and drone attack on Jordan's Prince Hassan Air Base.
The force said several fuel depots and ammunition storage facilities at the air base were set on fire in the attack.
In a statement, the IRGC described the attack as a response to the first round of US strikes on Iranian coastal military bases.
The statement said the US attack on the Iranian base came after the seizure of two IRGC naval vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran alleged that the seized vessels were operating illegally by disabling their tracking systems and endangering maritime security.
The IRGC has made it clear that its retaliatory operations are still ongoing and that further results will be announced in a subsequent statement.
