9 BGB provides humanitarian aid to 60 flood-hit families in Ruma

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has assisted vulnerable hill communities in the remote Chanda Headman Para of Ruma upazila, Bandarban. As part of a humanitarian initiative, food supplies and essential relief materials were distributed to the affected families.

The relief distribution program took place on Tuesday morning (July 14) at the premises of Chanda Headman Para Government Primary School. The event was organized under the initiative of the Ruma Battalion (9 BGB).

Under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Hasan Shahriar, Captain (Infantry) and Commander of the Ruma Battalion (9 BGB), relief packages were handed over to 60 affected families.

Each family received five kilograms of rice, two kilograms of lentils, one kilogram of sugar, one liter of cooking oil, two kilograms of potatoes, and other dry food items.

The program was also attended by the Ruma Battalion’s Medical Officer, Major Timir Ranjan Mahasta (ASC), and Captain Noor Mohammad Nahiyan Islam.

Numangpru Marma, headmaster of Chanda Headman Para Government Primary School, said, ‘60 families in our village have received this humanitarian assistance from the BGB. On behalf of the locals, I express my sincere gratitude to the Ruma 9 BGB for standing by us during this difficult time.’

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Hasan Shahriar stated, ‘BGB is always committed to performing humanitarian duties alongside protecting the country's border. Driven by that sense of responsibility, we have distributed relief to the local hill communities affected by floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall.’
