Movement led by HSC students is still continuing as they demand the resignation of the Education Minister.
Following day-long protests, rallies, and road blockades on Tuesday, sit-ins and chanting slogans were done by the students in various parts of the capital at night.
A chase and counter-chase and clashes took place between the students and police when the protesters tried to stage a sit-in program in front of the National Parliament building. Protesters alleged that several students were injured during the incident.
The students continued their sit-in despite police requests to leave the road. At one stage, tension arose between both sides, leading to a chase and counter-chase.
Later, police removed the students from the area in front of the Parliament building, and they took position at the Aarong intersection in Asadgate.
The protesters alleged that several students were injured in a police baton charge at that time. Later, agitated students threw brickbats at the police, prompting the police to dissipate them again.
The three-point demands of the protesters include: suspending the HSC examination until the disaster situation ends, arranging re-examinations for the students who could not participate in the exam on July 13 due to adverse weather, and the resignation of Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan.
Meanwhile, the students' movement did not stop despite the Education Minister expressing regret in the National Parliament for a personal comment.
Speaking on the Bogura Science and Technology University Bill in Parliament on Tuesday, the Education Minister said that the suspended exams under the Chattogram Education Board due to the ongoing flood situation will be retaken with new question papers.
He said that the suspended Physics 2nd Paper, Logic, and Accounting exams of the Chattogram Board will be held under a different set of question papers. The suspended exams will be held at the same time.
Regarding his recent personal comment in Parliament, the Education Minister said, "Many have objected to my personal comment. I did not say anything intentionally to anyone. If anyone is hurt, I express my regret."
