JUKSU leader injured in attack in Old Dhaka

Nur Mohammad sustained serious head injuries in the incident, which occurred in front of Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College in Old Dhaka's Laxmibazar on Wednesday evening.

According to Rakib Shikdar, an eyewitness and a physics student at Jagannath University, several members of Inqilab Mancha were waiting near Suhrawardy College to visit a fellow member injured in Tuesday's clashes. He alleged that a group of 20 to 25 people, led by College JCD President Jashim Uddin, surrounded them. The attackers confirmed Nur Mohammad's identity via a video call before launching the assault.

Alongside Nur Mohammad, three other Inqilab Mancha members - "Ismail Hossain Tanim, Rakib Shikdar, and Al-Faz - "were also injured. Critically injured Nur Mohammad was subsequently admitted to Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital.

Condemning the incident in a Facebook post, JUKSU General Secretary Abdul Alim alleged that activists of Suhrawardy College JCD launched an unprovoked attack on Nur Mohammad and several other students. He demanded the immediate identification and arrest of the attackers.

The incident comes a day after repeated clashes broke out at Jagannath University between activists of Chhatra Dal, JUKSU, Chhatra Shakti, and Chhatra Shibir over displaying placards during an event marking the 'July Mass Uprising.'
