Bangladesh got off to a flying start in the second T20 international against Zimbabwe. Visitors capitalized on multiple dropped catches and built a strong foundation.
The hosts reached 84 runs without loss in the first 10 overs. Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Saif Hassan, openers for team Bangladesh, put a stellar 120-run partnership in 14.4 overs.
However, the partnership was finally broken by the Zimbabwean captain Sikandar Raza as he bowled out Saif Hassan. Saif scored 55 out of 45 balls. His partner Tanzid Tamim followed shortly. Pacer Richard Ngarava bowled off his 58 off 44 balls innings.
Earlier, Bangladesh posted 54 runs in the Powerplay. Both openers looked confident from the start. However, Saif was exceptionally lucky. Zimbabwe fielders dropped him thrice within the first five overs.
Milton Shumba dropped Saif twice off Sikandar Raza and Richard Ngarava. Later, Brad Evans dropped another catch of Saif off Blessing Muzarabani.
Saif survived at individual scores of 8, 17, and 19. He made full use of these lifelines to keep the scoreboard ticking.
The opening duo brought up the 50-run mark in just 35 balls. Tamim led the charge with controlled aggression. Saif also accelerated his innings after surviving the early scares.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Zimbabwe, who won the first match by 32 runs, fielded an unchanged playing XI.
