State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Barrister Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin extended his support to the flood-affected families of Bandarban. Heavy rainfall and flash floods from the hills have destroyed parts of Rowangchhari upazila.
The State Minister, who is also the MP for Chittagong-5, assessed the damages. He collaborated with the local administration to distribute emergency relief.
He handed over aid to 500 flood victims at the Rowangchhari Government High School ground and other locations, including Jamchhari in Bandarban Sadar upazila.
Before distributing the relief, the State Minister urged officials to speed up the delivery of emergency aid. ‘The government stands with the people during this crisis. No affected family will be left without help,’ he assured.
He promised that the government is working sincerely to ensure all necessary support and will take active measures to repair damaged infrastructure. He also emphasized that post-disaster rehabilitation will be prioritized to help people return to normal life.
The government's humanitarian gesture has brought relief to local residents.
The event was attended by guests, including MP Sachingpru Jerry (seat 300), reserved seat MP Advocate Madhabi Marma, Bandarban Hill District Council Chairman Professor Thanjama Lusai, and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saniul Ferdous.
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ohabul Islam Khondaker, Roangchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tazmin Alam Tuli, and several local political leaders were also present.
