10-day tree fair begins in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, July 18: With the theme of 'Beautify the country by planting trees, Bangladesh first', a 10-day long Tree Fair 2026 has started on the Shaheed Dr Abul Kashem ground in the town from Saturday.

The tree fair, jointly organised by the district administration and Department of Forest, was inaugurated by State Minister for Public Administration and Food Abdul Bari MP. Joypurhat-1 Constituency MP Dr Fazlur Rahman Sayeed, Superintendent of Police Shahnaz Begum, Zilla Parishad Administrator Masud Rana Pradhan, District BNP Convener Golzar Hossain and others spoke at the inaugural session held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Al Mamun Mia.

State Minister Abdul Bari said that the BNP government led by Tarique Rahman has announced a programme to plant 25 crore trees in 5 years. 

In the tree fair organised for 10 days, 35 nursery owners of the district are selling various varieties of fruit, forest and medicinal plant seedlings at the fair.
