Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir left Dhaka for Bangkok, Thailand, on Sunday to attend a regional summit on scam centre compounds and transnational organized crime, police headquarters said.
The two-day summit, titled "Scam Centre Compounds and Transnational Organized Crime," will be held in Bangkok on July 20 and 21, according to a press release issued by the Police Headquarters.
The conference is being organized by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in collaboration with the Royal Thai Police.
The summit will bring together regional stakeholders to discuss operational coordination, formulate regional strategies, and strengthen joint initiatives to combat the growing threat posed by scam centre compounds and transnational organized crime networks.
The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing cross-border cooperation, intelligence sharing, and coordinated law enforcement efforts to address emerging security challenges in the region.
