Technician dies after fall from power pole in Dinajpur

A power technician died after being electrocuted and falling from an electricity pole while carrying out repair work in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur.

The incident occurred around 2:30pm on Tuesday near Hospital Mor in front of Shimanto Bank, according to witnesses and officials of the Palli Bidyut Office.

The deceased was identified as Moin Uddin, 45.

According to the Palli Bidyut Office, Moin had climbed the pole to fix electrical faults reported in several parts of the upazila. He was allegedly electrocuted while descending after completing the repairs and fell from the pole, sustaining critical injuries.

Locals and family members rushed him to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. As an ICU bed was unavailable, he was later taken to a local diagnostic centre, where doctors declared him dead in the evening.

His funeral prayers were held on Wednesday morning before he was laid to rest at his family graveyard.

The incident has cast a pall of grief over his family and the local community.
