A motivational gathering was held in Naogaon on Monday for students who failed or received unexpected results in the SSC and equivalent examinations-2026, with speakers urging them not to consider disappointing results the end of their lives.

The programme was organised by the Naogaon District Administration at the Naogaon Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium at 11am under the slogan,“Your result is not the end of your story.” Government officials, teachers, guardians and students attended the gathering, which aimed to provide emotional support and inspire students to make a fresh start after setbacks.

District Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam presided over the programme. Police Superintendent Mohammad Tarikul Islam, Additional District Commissioner (Education and ICT) Ayesha Siddika, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr Monir Ali Akand, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shaheen Mahmud, Porsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Rakibul Islam, District Education Officer Shahadat Hossain and Naogaon Government Girls’ High School Head Teacher Rabeya Khatun, among others, addressed the students.

Sharing his own experience of failure and success, District Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam said he had wanted to become an engineer but could not even apply for admission to an engineering university after performing poorly in mathematics in his HSC examination. He said he was discouraged at the time, but encouragement from his mother and other family members helped him regain confidence. He later studied English literature at university and secured a position in the administration cadre by passing the BCS examination on his first attempt.

Addressing the students, he said an SSC examination is only one stage of life and that failure at one stage does not mean the end of life. He urged the students to learn from their mistakes, identify areas for improvement and make better preparations for the future.

Police Superintendent Mohammad Tarikul Islam said success cannot be judged by the result of a single examination. He said receiving a GPA-5 in the SSC examination does not automatically mean someone will be successful in life, just as failing an examination does not mean someone is a failure. He encouraged the students to remain committed to their dreams and continue working towards their goals.

Student Sanjida Akhter, who appeared in the SSC examination from Naogaon Parimohan Girls’ High School, said she had expected to achieve GPA-5 but did not get the result she had hoped for. She said the disappointment had affected her confidence, but the speakers at the gathering inspired her to learn from her past mistakes and work for better results in the future.
