Three killed in a head-on motorcycle collision in Gopalganj

Three young men were killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles on the Gopalganj�"Tekerhat regional highway in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila on Friday night.

The deceased were identified as Achintya Kundu, 25, of Muksudpur Upazila in Gopalganj, Ujjwal Baroi, 35, and Faisal Bepari, 20, both from Rajoir Upazila in Madaripur.

Sub-Inspector Shamim Al Mamun of the Baultali Investigation Centre said the accident occurred in the Chamta area when a motorcycle carrying Achintya and Ujjwal collided head-on with another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

Achintya died at the scene, while Ujjwal and Faisal sustained critical injuries. Ujjwal later died at Rajoir Upazila Health Complex, and Faisal succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal proceedings are underway, the SI added.
