Political tie won’t shield offenders: Khulna DIG

KHULNA, July 26: Khulna Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Md Mostafizur Rahman said no political affiliation or identity would be considered while taking legal action against offenders.

“An offender has no identity. Action will be taken based on the offence committed, not on political affiliation or any other identity,” he said while exchanging views with journalists in Khulna on Sunday.

The DIG said police would strengthen law enforcement through technology-driven investigations to bring criminals to justice.

He added that, alongside conventional policing, the Khulna Range would adopt a coordinated approach combining intelligence-based policing, technology-based policing and community engagement to improve crime prevention and investigation.

He said besides taking action after crimes occur, police would place greater emphasis on preventive measures based on intelligence inputs to stop crimes before they happen.

The DIG also said maximum use of mobile technology, digital data and other modern technologies would be ensured to enhance policing services and investigative efficiency.

Highlighting the role of the media, Mostafizur Rahman said journalists play a vital role in evaluating police performance and reflecting public expectations. 

He added that constructive criticism of police’s shortcomings by the media would contribute to improving the quality of police services.

Khulna Superintendent of Police Md Tajul Islam and other senior police officials were present at the meeting.
