GOPALGANJ, July 26: A week-long tree planting drive and tree fair organised by the district administration and the Department of Forest have been inaugurated in the district on Sunday morning.
A discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) on Sunday morning under the theme 'Beautify the country with tree plantation, Bangladesh first'. After the discussion meeting, a colourful procession was brought out from the front of the DC office that paraded through various roads of the district town and ended on the fair premises at Sthanani Poura Park. Later, the fair was inaugurated by Gopalganj-2 Constituency MP Dr KM Babar by cutting the ribbon.
DC Md Arif Uz-Zaman was present at that time. Then saplings of different species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees were distributed among the students. Twenty stalls at the tree fair will be open to visitors from 10 am to 8 pm every day. The fair will continue until August 1.
