Hajj 2027 pre-registration starts

The government has opened the initial registration process for Hajj 2027, with applications running from July 27 to Sept. 24, according to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Prospective pilgrims must complete their initial registration within the deadline by depositing Tk350,000 through either the government or private management system. Before that, all applicants must complete mandatory pre-registration by paying Tk30,000.

Pilgrims who complete the initial registration must pay the remaining cost of their selected Hajj package and complete final registration by Dec. 10.

Under the government scheme, applicants can register through the e-Hajj portal, Union Digital Centers, Islamic Foundation offices, district and upazila model mosques, the Baitul Mukarram Islamic Foundation office, or the Dhaka Hajj Office. Payments must be made through designated Sonali Bank branches.

Those applying through private management must deposit the required amount into the designated bank account of their selected Hajj agency, with account details available on the Hajj portal.

The ministry also outlined eligibility restrictions. Individuals under the age of 15 will not be permitted to perform Hajj. People suffering from serious heart, lung, liver or kidney diseases, neurological or psychiatric disorders, dementia, or those undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy or biological therapy for cancer are also ineligible.

In addition, individuals with contagious diseases that pose a public health risk, including tuberculosis (TB) and hemorrhagic fever, will not be allowed to perform the pilgrimage.
