Salman Khan extends relief support to Assam flood victims

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has stepped forward to support flood-affected people in Assam by launching a phased relief initiative in coordination with the Salman Khan Fan Club (SKFC) Assam, according to a Mid-Day report.
Bollywood actor Salman Khan is extending humanitarian assistance to flood-hit communities in Assam through a coordinated relief campaign with SKFC Assam. Despite being busy filming his upcoming movie in Mumbai, the actor has remained in constant contact with the fan club to oversee and plan the relief operations, a source close to him told Mid-Day.
In the first phase, Salman Khan's charitable foundation, Being Human, and SKFC Assam have begun distributing ready-to-eat food packets in Sivasagar district. The relief supplies, dispatched from Guwahati, include biscuits, jaggery, flattened rice, puffed rice, bread, cheese, and jam. According to the source, Salman has prioritized ensuring that affected families receive enough food to sustain themselves for at least three days until conditions improve.
The relief effort also includes the distribution of sanitary pads, mosquito coils, safe drinking water, and water purification tablets.
The second phase of the initiative, scheduled to begin next week, will focus on providing ration supplies and medicines to flood victims.
In the final phase, Being Human plans to help rebuild schools and hospitals that have been severely damaged by the floods, the report added.
Meanwhile, on July 25, renowned Assamese singer Papon hosted an Instagram Live charity concert to raise support for flood victims. Musicians Vishal Dadlani, Divya Kumar, and Nilotpal Bora joined the event, urging people to contribute to ongoing relief efforts.
Although the flood situation in Assam has shown signs of improvement, the crisis is far from over. Around 445,000 people remain affected, with 631 villages still submerged. The death toll has risen to 68, while more than 37,000 hectares of farmland, thousands of homes, and educational institutions have been damaged. In addition, over 256,000 livestock have been affected by the disaster.
