Clash between two BAU residential halls leaves 4 injured

A clash broke out between students of two residential halls in Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), leaving at least four injured.
The chase counter-chase occurred between the students of Maulana Bhashani Hall and Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy Hall on Saturday night.
According to students, the conflict began over a trivial issue in Messenger group chat of the first-year students (Batch-65) of the Faculty of Agriculture. Later the dispute turned into a clash between students of the two residential halls.
A student anonymously said, a meme was posted in the Messenger group chat regarding the Class Representative (CR) election for the Section ‘A’ if the Faculty of Agriculture.
One student objected to the post and suggested sending it personally rather than in the official group. With this, an argument started between two parties over this matter which resulted in clash.
Eyewitnesses said students of Maulana Bhashani Hall initially chased students of Suhrawardy Hall. Later, a group of Suhrawardy Hall students went to Bhashani Hall and carried out vandalism.
This created tension across various parts of the campus and spread panic among general students.
At least four students were injured in the clash. Among the injured, one suffered a head injury, while others sustained injuries to their hands and legs.
Upon receiving the news, members of the university's proctorial body and law enforcement personnel went to the spot late at night.
The situation came under control after both sides returned to their respective halls following their intervention.
Dr. Aminul Matin, on-duty physician at the University Health Care Center, said, "Not many students were injured. A total of three to four people were injured. They all left after receiving first aid. No one needed to be sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital."
"Most of the injured are students of Maulana Bhashani Hall. The number of injured from Suhrawardy Hall is relatively low. No major incident occurred," he added.
Assistant Proctor of the university, Mahbubul Pratik Siddique, said, "The situation is currently normal. Everyone returned to their respective halls after the incident."
"Going to the scene at night, I saw students of one hall vandalized another hall. No further untoward incidents occurred later," he said.
