BMDA chair opens tree plantation prog

CHATMOHAR, PABNA, Aug 2: Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) Chairman, Agriculturist Hasan Zafir Tuhin, said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has surprised the countrymen with various development and public welfare initiatives in just five months after assuming office. The people of the country have started getting the benefits of the government's various developments.

He said these things while talking to reporters after inaugurating a 5,000 tree planting programme organised in different areas of Chatmohar and Faridpur upazilas of Pabna on Sunday afternoon.

Hasan Zafir Tuhin inaugurated the programme in the Chalan Beel area as part of a 25 crore tree planting programme in five years across the country. Later, he planted saplings of various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees.

The BMDA chairman said that the current government has taken various development initiatives across the country within a short time after assuming office. Especially in Pabna-3 (Chatmohar, Bhangura, Faridpur) Constituency, there is a plan to implement extensive development activities.

Hasan Zafir Tuhin said that there is no alternative to tree planting to maintain environmental balance, greening, combat the adverse effects of climate change and ensure a safe environment full of flowers and fruits for future generations.

He also said, “Regardless of party or opinion, everyone must be involved in this programme. The responsibility will not end with just planting trees; they must also be regularly maintained.”

Present at that time were BMDA Pabna Executive Engineer Saifunnahar, Chatmohar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Musa Naser Chowdhury, Faridpur UNO Umme Imama Banin, AC (Land) Faisal Mahmud and Chatmohar Upazila Agriculture Officer Kuntala Ghosh.
