July Uprising photo exhibition opens at C’Bazar Press Club

COX'S BAZAR, Aug 2: A week-long photo exhibition titled "July Martyrs' Memorial" was inaugurated at the Cox's Bazar Press Club on Saturday to commemorate the July Uprising and Mass Uprising Day.

The exhibition, jointly organised by the Cox's Bazar Press Club and the Cox's Bazar Journalists' Union, was formally opened by Press Club President Md Mahbubur Rahman, General Secretary Mumtaz Uddin Bahari and Journalists' Union President Nurul Islam Helaly.

Among those present at the inauguration were Press Club Joint Secretary Ekram Chowdhury Tip, Press Club member and Executive Editor of Dainik Himchhari Humayun Kabir Sikder, Journalists' Union Organising Secretary Shahed Mizan and Jamuna Television Staff Correspondent Ehsan Al Kutubi.

The exhibition features photographs documenting key moments of the July 2024 uprising, including portraits of martyrs Abu Sayed, Wasim Akram, Mir Mugdha, Tanvir Siddiqui and others who lost their lives during the movement.

Visitors can also view photographs capturing student-led demonstrations and public protests in Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Dhaka and other parts of the country. The exhibition further includes images depicting the takeover of Ganabhaban and the departure of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Organisers said the exhibition aims to preserve the memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the movement and to present the events of the July uprising to younger generations through visual documentation. They expressed hope that the photographs would encourage visitors to reflect on the significance of the movement and its place in the country's recent history.
