Dear Sir,

Education is meant to prepare people for life, yet our schools and colleges devote little attention to one of life’s greatest responsibilities"parenthood. While students spend years mastering academic subjects, they receive almost no guidance on raising children, managing family responsibilities, or building healthy relationships.

Many young people enter marriage and parenthood without understanding child development, emotional well-being, financial planning, or the long-term responsibilities of family life. The consequences often include poor parenting, financial hardship, and emotional distress that affect both parents and children.

Educational institutions should therefore introduce age-appropriate parenting education at the secondary and higher-secondary levels. Such education is essential to help young people make informed decisions about marriage, family life, and raising children. Preparing future parents with the knowledge and skills needed to nurture healthy families is an investment in the nation’s future. After all, strong families raise confident children, and confident children build a stronger Bangladesh.
