70kg venison, two deer heads seized from Sundarban

KHULNA, Aug 5: The Forest Department has seized 70 kilograms of venison, two deer heads, a boat and hunting equipment during a special drive in the Shakbaria River under the Sundarban West Forest Division's Khulna Range.

The raid was conducted recently in the No. 6 Koyra Patrol area adjacent to the Shakbaria River in compartment K/36 under the Kashiabad Forest Station.

According to forest officials, the operation was launched on the basis of secret information under the leadership of Kashiabad Forest Station Officer Deputy Ranger Md. Nasir Uddin.

Sensing the presence of the forest personnel, the poachers fled the scene, leaving behind the venison and equipment.
During a search of the abandoned boat, officials recovered 70kg of venison, two deer heads, one boat, a machete and a 10-foot polythene sheet, which were seized.
