Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has been hospitalised after falling ill, with sources saying he underwent surgery for a problem with his hand.
He is currently under observation at Peerless Hospital, according to reports. Hospital sources said his condition is stable following the surgery and that he is recovering.
News of Mithun's illness sparked concern among his fans and colleagues. The veteran actor has enjoyed a decades-long career, earning a place in audiences' hearts through numerous popular roles. In recent years, he has also been active in politics.
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited the hospital to see Mithun and enquire about his health. He was accompanied by actor and Jadavpur MLA Sharvari Mukhopadhyay.
Doctors have said Mithun is doing well following the hand surgery. He has been advised to take adequate rest and follow medical instructions while recovering.
There is reportedly no immediate cause for fresh concern over his condition.
Fans have been wishing the veteran actor a speedy recovery, with messages of support also spreading on social media.
