July uprising participants gifted CNG, rickshaws by PM Tarique

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman handed over CNG-powered auto-rickshaws and rickshaws to two participants of the July mass uprising on Saturday (August 8).

The distribution ceremony took place at the Prime Minister's Tejgaon office.

During the event, the Prime Minister spoke with the recipients and inquired about their physical condition, family, and livelihood. He also encouraged one of them to pursue higher education.

Among the recipients, Mohammad Aziz Sheikh is a second-year honours student from Narail's Lohagara upazila. He sustained bullet injuries during the July mass uprising in the capital's Mirpur-10 area.

Another recipient, Md. Gaffar, is a resident of Alamdanga upazila in Kushtia who used to earn his living by pulling a rickshaw. During the uprising, Gaffar supplied water to protesters and transported injured individuals to hospitals on his rickshaw.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman gifted a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw to Aziz Sheikh and a new rickshaw to Gaffar in recognition of their bravery. Both will use the gifts to support their families and education.

In addition, 65-year-old Asadul Haque Bishu from Bogura's Gabtoli upazila, who was struggling due to unemployment, received two battery-powered auto-rickshaws as a gift from the Prime Minister.

BNP MP Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M Saleh Shibli, and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon were also present at the event.
