One killed in gas cylinder blast in Gabtoli

A 25-year-old man was killed and another person injured when a gas cylinder exploded inside a covered van carrying fish in Dipnagar, Gabtoli, on Saturday morning.

The deceased, Mohammad Imran, worked at a wholesale fish market in the area with his brother.

The incident occurred around 10:30am while fish was being loaded onto the covered van. Imran and another person sustained serious injuries in the blast and were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared Imran dead.

The identity of the injured person could not be immediately known. He is undergoing treatment at DMCH.

Inspector Md Faruk of the DMCH Police Camp confirmed Imran’s death, saying his body has been kept in the hospital morgue.

The incident has been reported to the concerned police station.
