Ensure Transparency in Exam Paper Evaluation

Letter To the Editor
Dear Sir,

Education is the backbone of a nation, and a fair examination system is essential to maintaining public confidence in education. Every year, thousands of students sit for SSC, HSC, Honours and Master’s examinations after years of hard work and preparation. Their answer scripts therefore deserve to be assessed with the utmost care, fairness and professionalism.

Recently, concerns have emerged on social media over alleged irregularities in the evaluation of examination scripts. Some posts have claimed that, in certain cases, HSC scripts were marked by students, while another allegation suggested that an SSC script was evaluated by an inexperienced individual. Although such claims require proper verification, they highlight the need for stronger oversight of the assessment process.

Any negligence or lack of supervision can result in deserving students receiving unfair marks, potentially damaging their academic and career prospects. I therefore urge the authorities concerned to strengthen monitoring, accountability and quality control in the assessment of examination papers.
