Child drowns at Gangachara

GANGACHARA, RANGPUR, Aug 10: A 19-month-old child named Rohan died after falling into the Ghagot River in Jaliatari area of Betgari Union in Gangachra Upazila of the district on Sunday noon. 

The deceased was the son of Jewel Mia of Bakshiganj area of Barabil Union in the upazila. He lived with his mother Rezia in his maternal grandfather’s house in Satani Sherpur area of the union.

Locals said that Rohan went to play on the bank of the river in the morning. Not being able to see him around 7 am, the family members started searching. Later, locals found the body around 12:30 noon
