KU to probe secret AL meet

KHULNA, Aug 11: Khulna University (KU) authorities have formed a five-member committee to probe whether any of its teachers were involved in an alleged secret operation to bring deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh.

The university disclosed the information in an office order signed by Acting Registrar Prof Dr SM Mahbubur Rahman on Monday. KU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Harunur Rashid Khan confirmed the formation of the committee on Tuesday.

According to the office order, recent reports in different media outlets and sources said 404 teachers from 22 public universities were allegedly involved in a secret operation to facilitate Hasina’s return to the country.

Against this backdrop, the university authorities formed the committee to investigate whether any KU teacher was involved in such an alleged secret activity.
