Unilever appoints Barrister Zobayer as Head of Legal

Unilever Bangladesh Ltd (UBL), one of the country's largest fast-moving consumer goods companies, has appointed Barrister Abdullah Zobayer as Head of Legal, Bangladesh and Home Care General Counsel, Bangladesh, effective 1 August 2026. He has also been appointed to the Management Committee of Unilever Bangladesh.
In his new role, Zobayer will lead Unilever Bangladesh's legal function, providing strategic counsel on key business, governance and regulatory matters, says a press release. 
Zobayer joined Unilever Bangladesh as Senior Legal Counsel in August 2021 before taking on his current position. He brings more than 16 years of legal experience across the fast-moving consumer goods and telecommunications sectors, as well as private legal practice. He is a Barrister-at-Law from Lincoln's Inn and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
During his tenure at Unilever Bangladesh, Zobayer has led significant litigation, arbitration and dispute-resolution matters and supported the company in navigating a complex regulatory environment. He has also contributed to regulatory advocacy and industry engagement on matters including extended producer responsibility, product standards and labour law compliance.
In addition, Zobayer has helped advance the legal function's digitalisation and process-simplification initiatives, improving productivity and service delivery. He has also served as Acting Company Secretary, supporting the company's corporate governance and statutory responsibilities.
