The General Cargo Berth (GCB) at Chittagong Port achieved a record for the highest number of export-laden containers loaded onto a single vessel in a single day.
On Wednesday (August 12), a total of 1,784 TEUs (933 boxes) of export-laden containers were loaded onto the 'MV Maersk Bintulu,' operated by international main line shipping operator Maersk Line, at GCB berth No. 11.
Along with 147 TEUs (144 boxes) of empty containers, a total of 1,931 TEUs of containers were loaded onto the vessel.
Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim confirmed the milestone to the press on Wednesday evening.
He stated that the 'MV Maersk Bintulu' departed for Malaysia’s Port Klang on Wednesday carrying the 1,931 TEUs of containers, of which 1,784 TEUs contained export goods.
Syed Refayet Hamim added that this marks the highest volume of export-laden containers ever shipped on an individual vessel at Chittagong Port.
The previous record was set on June 18, when 1,439 TEUs of export containers were loaded onto a single ship.
