Bangladesh High Commission seeks family of deceased migrant in Malaysia

The Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia has sought the family of a Bangladeshi migrant who died of ischemic heart disease and whose body is currently being kept at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement on Wednesday, the mission said the man, identified as Din Islam, died on July 25 from ischemic heart disease due to coronary artery disease.

According to passport and visa information provided by his employer, his name is Din Mohammad and his father’s name is Abdul Haque. His passport lists his address as Rajabari, Brahmanpara, Cumilla Sadar, Cumilla.

The High Commission said it had contacted the relevant local authorities in Bangladesh to arrange the repatriation of the body. However, it has so far been unable to verify his exact address or locate any family members or relatives based on the passport information.

As a result, no decision can yet be made on whether to repatriate the body or arrange a local burial in Malaysia.

The mission urged Bangladeshi expatriates in Malaysia who have any information about the deceased, his family or relatives to contact the Bangladesh High Commission as soon as possible.

It said locating his family would allow the authorities to proceed with repatriation or make other necessary arrangements.
