Eight more people have died with measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths from confirmed measles and measles-like symptoms this year to 1,044.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its regular health bulletin on Wednesday.
According to the bulletin, three people died with measles symptoms in Sylhet division between 8:00 AM on Tuesday and 8:00 AM on Wednesday, the highest among the divisions.
During the same period, 1,320 new patients with measles and measles-like symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country.
Of them, 509 were admitted in Dhaka division, 29 in Rajshahi, 194 in Sylhet, 286 in Chattogram, 125 in Barishal, 63 in Mymensingh, 97 in Khulna and 17 in Rangpur.
According to DGHS data, 154,420 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country since March 15. Of them, 148,465 have been discharged after receiving treatment.
The number of suspected measles cases has reached 175,198 since March 15. Of them, 20,282 have been confirmed as measles cases.
This year, 100 people have died from confirmed measles, while 944 have died with measles symptoms.
