Cycle rally held with ‘Clean City, Green City’ message

A heritage cycle rally was held in the capital on Friday morning as part of the month-long “Hridoye Dhaka 416” festival, organised by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to highlight Dhaka’s rich history, heritage and cultural legacy and encourage citizens to take greater responsibility for the city.

The “Dhaka Heritage Cycle Rally” began at 7am from the historic Dhaka Gate and ended at Nagar Bhaban after passing through several significant areas of the capital. Around 300 citizens participated in the rally.

State Minister for the Road Transport and Highways Division and the Ministry of Railways Habibur Rashid Habib inaugurated the rally as chief guest. Dhaka-7 MP Hamidur Rahman attended as special guest, while DSCC Administrator and freedom fighter Md Abdus Salam presided over the event.

The cyclists passed through TSC, Shahbagh, Bata Signal, Science Lab, Nilkhet, Azimpur, Dhakeshwari Temple, Bakshibazar, the Central Shaheed Minar area, Secretariat Road and Bangabazar before reaching Nagar Bhaban. DSCC awarded medals and certificates to all participants.
