Five people, including Jobaerul Islam alias Ripol alias Bipul, key accused in the murder case of teen gang leader Alex Emon in the capital’s Mohammadpur area, have been arrested with firearms and ammunition by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2.
They were arrested during separate drives in Mohammadpur and the Shakta Union and Kholamora areas of Keraniganj in Dhaka Friday.
RAB-2 Commander Additional DIG Noymul Hasan confirmed the information at a press conference, saying two foreign-made pistols, a single-barrel gun, six rounds of live ammunition and seven sharp local weapons were recovered from the arrestees.
He said Alex Emon was hacked to death in broad daylight by accused Bipul and his associates on April 12 over establishing dominance in the Rayerbazar Beribadh area. A case was filed with Mohammadpur Police Station on April 13, naming 20 people as accused.
