Marvel Studios has released a new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday today (August 15), offering a glimpse of Doctor Doom and the upcoming showdown between him and a multiverse of heroes.
The trailer was unveiled after the stars of the film appeared at Disney’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, where Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell took the stage to tease the upcoming Marvel film.
Downey Jr returns as Doctor Doom, while Evans and Atwell reprise their roles as Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter.
The presentation also featured surprise appearances from Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, who sent a video message to the D23 audience and joked about joining the already star-studded cast.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday follows heroes from three distinct universes as they face Doctor Doom, an existential threat.
The film stars Downey Jr, Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and several other Marvel veterans.
Marvel also unveiled a new poster for the film alongside the trailer.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theatres on December 18.
