Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi armed group has claimed that it launched a missile attack on a Saudi military warship and four vessels escorting it in the Red Sea on Monday.
According to a telegram post of Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree, several ballistic missiles were used to target a Saudi military vessel in the Red Sea. He claimed the missiles struck the target directly and accurately.
“The attack set the Saudi warship on fire. Several boats providing security for the vessel were also sunk, while others caught fire” he said.
“The armed forces continue to maintain the equation of blockade in response to the blockade and continue targeting all gatherings of the Saudi military” he added.
Saudi authorities did not immediately comment on the reported attack.
