Children’s drawing competition held in Khulna to mark Begum Zia’s 82nd birthday

KHULNA, Aug 17: A drawing competition for children and teenagers was held here on Sunday evening to mark the 82nd birthday of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

The competition was organised on the premises of Khulna District Shilpakala Academy, with students from different schools in the city participating spontaneously.

The event turned into a colourful gathering of children as the young participants displayed their creativity, patriotism and imagination through drawings.

Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju attended the programme as the chief guest.

Adviser to Bangladesh Kindergarten Association RehanaAkhter, Khulna Press Club General Secretary Tarikul Islam, Central Council General Secretary of Zia Shishu-KishorSangathan Mir MominurRahmanSujon, Senior Vice-President MirzaMasudurRahman and Vice-President Parvin Sultana Nitu were present as special guests.

President of Zia Shishu-Kishor Sangathan, Khulna Metropolitan unit, Niaz Ahmed Tuhin, presided over the programme.

Addressing the event, Manju said Khaleda Zia is an important leader in Bangladesh’s democratic movement and has led struggles for people’s rights, democracy and voting rights during her long political career.
Her struggles and sacrifices could inspire the new generation with patriotism, courage and democratic values, he said.

He also said children and teenagers are the architects of the Bangladesh of tomorrow, and such programmes play an important role in developing their talent, creativity and potential.

Speakers said the drawings made by the children reflected their dreams, imagination and vision of the Bangladesh of tomorrow.

They stressed the need for organising such programmes regularly to promote children’s creative development and social values.

The participants were encouraged at the end of the competition, while initiatives were taken to award prizes to the outstanding contestants.

Leaders and organisers of Zia Shishu-Kishor Sangathan’s Khulna City and District units, guardians and a large number of children and teenagers attended the programme.
