BGB seizes Indian drugs along Daulatpur border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Monday arrested one person and seized a large quantity of Indian contraband drugs and smuggled-in goods in separate operations along the Daulatpur border in Kushtia.

Based on specific intelligence, troops of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) conducted separate patrols in different areas under its jurisdiction to prevent the smuggling of drugs and other goods through the border. The total estimated value of the seized goods was Tk 2,068,645.

In an operation at Bagapara in Jamalpur under the jurisdiction of Jamalpur Border Outpost (BOP), a BGB team arrested Md Ripon, 35, son of late Mohammad Ali of Jamalpur, Mahishkundi, Daulatpur, and recovered 20 Indian Tapentadol tablets. The estimated value of the drugs was Tk 6,000.

In separate operations on August 17, BGB troops from Bilgathua BOP recovered 15kg of Indian cannabis and 2,000 Cyproheptadine tablets from West Bilgathua. The estimated value of the seized items was Tk 652,500.

In another operation at Dharmadaha West Field under Dharmadaha BOP, the patrol team recovered five bottles of Indian liquor, 1,600 Dexamethasone tablets and 139 packets of Indian cigarettes. The estimated value was Tk 495,145.

Meanwhile, troops from Rangmahal BOP recovered 10 bottles of Indian liquor and 3,000 Dexamethasone tablets from Rangmahal on August 17. The estimated value of the recovered items was Tk 915,000.
