A Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) programmer, Kaushik Debnath, was sent to jail on Monday after a Dhaka court rejected his bail petition in a case over an alleged BCS question paper leak.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir passed the order after Debnath surrendered before the court. His lawyer claimed the allegations against him were false and baseless, while the prosecution opposed bail.
The case was filed with Paltan Model Police Station on July 8, 2024, under the PSC Act. The CID later submitted a charge sheet against 55 people, including alleged mastermind Abed Ali.
According to the charge sheet, the syndicate allegedly supplied leaked questions and answers to selected candidates before examinations in exchange for large sums of money. The network reportedly involved current and former PSC officials, government employees and people from various professions.
