The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected president will be held at Bangabhaban at 7:30pm today (Friday). To ensure smooth traffic management, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed special traffic restrictions in and around the area.
The restrictions will remain in effect from 3pm to 9pm today, according to a public notice issued by the DMP’s Motijheel traffic division.
Under the directives, all vehicles will be barred from entering the road from the Aliko Gap at Motijheel Shapla Chattar to the Dilkusha commercial area (Bangabhaban Road) and the RAJUK Crossing (DIT Road).
Buses travelling from Shapla Chattar and Dainik Bangla towards RAJUK and Gulistan will be diverted via Dainik Bangla, UBL and Press Club. Commercial vehicles travelling from Dainik Bangla towards RAJUK will not be allowed.
Vehicles coming from the Hanif Flyover have been instructed not to make a U-turn at Zero Point. Instead, they should turn left towards Fulbaria or right via UBL Crossing and proceed towards Dainik Bangla and Shapla Chattar.
The DMP has suggested an alternative route through Zero Point, UBL Crossing, Nightingale Crossing, Fakirapul Crossing, Shapla , Ittefaq Road.
The DMP said temporary traffic restrictions may cause disruptions and urged commuters to avoid the affected roads where possible and use alternative routes.
