The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Abdur Rahim alias Roni, a fugitive who was sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour in a murder case filed with Begumganj Police Station in Noakhali.
He was arrested on Saturday afternoon, August 2, in front of Uttara Centre Metro Station in the Uttara Diabari area under Turag Police Station in Dhaka Metropolitan City. A joint team of RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali, and RAB-1, CPC-2 Uttara, Dhaka, conducted the operation.
The arrested Abdur Rahim alias Roni is the son of Nurul Amin of the Daulatpur area in Begumganj upazila.
According to RAB, after the trial of a murder case filed with Begumganj Police Station in 2019, a court sentenced Roni to life imprisonment with hard labour. Following the announcement of the sentence, he had been in hiding for a long time to evade arrest.
Based on confidential information and intelligence surveillance, the joint team confirmed his whereabouts and arrested him.
Senior Assistant Police Superintendent Mithun Kumar Kundu, company commander of RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali, said, "the arrested accused had been handed over to Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Airport Police Station for further legal action."
