Tourist express coach door breaks after collision with leguna

A section of the passenger coach door of the Tourist Express train traveling from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar broke off after the train collided with a leguna.

The incident occurred at around 12:45 PM Monday near the Gomdandi railway crossing in Boalkhali upazila of Chattogram. No casualties were reported.

According to railway sources, the nonstop Tourist Express train, which had departed from Dhaka for Cox’s Bazar, was passing through the Gomdandi railway crossing when it collided with a leguna that was parked beside the railway tracks. A section of the door of one of the train’s passenger coaches broke off and fell to the ground.

Kanchan Bhattacharya, station master at Gomdandi Station, said the broken section of the door had been kept in railway custody. The leguna was seized and handed over to police. There was reportedly no driver or passenger inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Abdus Salam Bhuiyan, station master at Patiya Station said, "the train arrived at Patiya Station at around 1:10 PM It was stopped there for about 15 minutes while the damaged door was repaired. The train then resumed its journey to Cox’s Bazar."
