The awareness meeting was arranged at 5 PM on Wednesday (August 26) by the Forest Range office of Kaptai under the South Forest Division. Assistant Conservator of Forests Jamal Hossain Talukdar moderated the awareness meeting.
The Forest Department has asked ERT members and local people to be cautious to avert human-elephant conflict in Kaptai.
People were informed that they should contact the Forest Department and ERT members whenever a wild elephant comes to any locality. Besides, they were instructed to move in groups, not go near to elephants in a solitary way or run here and there.
Assistant Range Officer of Kaptai Forest Range Md Mamunur Rahman said that some steps have been taken by the Forest Department to save elephants like making fodder plantations and digging ponds.
He requested all concerned to be cautious and co-operate with the Forest Department for the security of both humans and elephants.
Some ERT members also gave their suggestions during the meeting.
