'Avengers: Endgame Encore' returns to cinemas with new footage

Marvel Studios is bringing its landmark 2019 superhero blockbuster Avengers: Endgame back to global theaters next month under the title Avengers: Endgame: Encore, setting up a narrative bridge to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

The extended cut will hit cinemas on September 25, 2026, ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled for release on December 18. Marvel launched a trailer urging fans to "Reassemble the team & relive the experience," accompanied by the opening of advance ticket sales.

The re-release will feature an expanded 185-minute runtime, adding roughly four minutes of new content to the original cut. Marvel confirmed the package includes an introduction, newly integrated footage, updated color grading, subtle dialogue alterations, and an exclusive post-credits preview connecting the film directly to Avengers: Doomsday.

The trailer also incorporates real theater footage of fans reacting to key moments during the original 2019 release.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, who return to helm Avengers: Doomsday, described the re-release as essential viewing. Speaking to Fandango, Joe Russo stated the new edition connects the narratives of the two films, calling it a natural progression and required viewing for the upcoming storyline.

Avengers: Endgame: Encore will be screened in premium formats, including IMAX and Infinity Vision.
