‎Dr Nazneen Ahmed appointed CPD Executive Director

Dr Nazneen Ahmed has been appointed Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), bringing nearly three decades of experience in economic research, policy analysis and development work, according to a CPD press release.
‎

‎She will take charge from September 1, 2026, according to a CPD announcement.
‎Dr Ahmed comes to CPD after serving at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). She worked as Country Economist at UNDP Bangladesh for two years and later as a Policy Advisor at its Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific in New York for three years.
‎Before joining the UNDP, she spent 25 years at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), where she started as a Research Associate in July 1998 and later became a Research Director.

‎Her work covers some of Bangladesh’s key economic and social issues, including international trade, industry and employment, governance, gender equality, social protection and inclusive growth. She has also published research in national and international journals and worked with several global organisations.

‎Dr Ahmed holds a PhD in Economics from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and a Master’s in Development Economics from the University of Sussex in the UK. She completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics at the University of Dhaka and was a Chevening Scholar.

‎Her long experience in research, public policy and international development is
‎expected to strengthen CPD’s work on evidence-based policymaking and inclusive development in Bangladesh.
