Two killed in Sirajganj road mishap

SIRAJGANJ, Aug 28: Two people were killed and another was injured in an accident on the Sirajganj-Nalka regional highway in the Bahuti area of Shialkol Union in Sirajganj Sadar Upazila early Friday.

The deceased were Thakur Haldar, 68, of Kalinja Village in Pangasi Union of Raiganj Upazila, and Ashik, 37, son of Ali Akhtar Fakir of Kutirchar Village in Bhadra Ghat Union of Kamarkhand Upazila. Ashik was the driver of the auto-rickshaw.

Thakur Haldar’s son, Bishnu Haldar, was injured and admitted to Sirajganj Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Rakibul Hasan said Thakur Haldar, a fisherman, and his son were travelling toward Sirajganj town from Bhadra Ghat Bazar in the auto-rickshaw when it crashed into the rear of a truck parked beside the road. The driver and Thakur Haldar died on the spot.
