An 11-party alliance has warned that it will resist any obstruction to its planned long march from Dhaka to Chattogram on September 5 over six demands for public rights.
The alliance leaders made the remarks at a meeting with journalists at Al-Falah Auditorium in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on Monday.
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said around 1,000 vehicles would leave Dhaka for Chattogram, with more vehicles expected to join the procession along the way.
Parwar said there was no security concern over the long march and sought government cooperation to make the programme a success.
He also apologised to the public in advance for any inconvenience caused by the long march and urged people to support their demands.
