Six more die with measles symptoms, 1,231 newly affected

Six more people died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,231 new cases were reported, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the new cases, 1,159 people developed measles symptoms, while 72 were confirmed to have contracted the disease, the DGHS said in its regular measles situation report on Tuesday.

Since March 15, a total of 880 children have died with measles symptoms, while 99 children died after confirmed measles infection, taking the combined death toll to 979.

During the same period, 19,384 people have been confirmed to have contracted measles, including 72 in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 159,150 people have developed measles symptoms since March 15, including 1,159 in the past 24 hours.

The DGHS said 139,519 people with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals during the period, while 134,458 were discharged after receiving treatment.
