Dengue deaths rise to 107 as five die in 24 hours

Five people died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease this year to 107.

Another 1,110 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services’ regular dengue report issued on Wednesday.

Of the latest deaths, two each were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation and Mymensingh Division, while one was reported in Barishal Division.

Khulna recorded the highest number of new hospital admissions at 190, followed by Chattogram with 175 and Dhaka Division with 171.

Dhaka North and Dhaka South city corporations reported 135 and 134 admissions respectively. Barishal recorded 110, Rajshahi 91, Mymensingh 65, Rangpur 32 and Sylhet seven.

Since January 1, a total of 107 people have died of dengue across the country. Of them, 54 deaths were reported in Dhaka Division, including the two city corporations.

Khulna recorded 18 deaths, Mymensingh 12, Barishal 10, Chattogram seven, Rajshahi four, and Rangpur and Sylhet one each.
