Nahid warns of one-point demand if long march barred

National Citizen Party (NCP) convener and MP Nahid Islam warned that the six-point demand will turn into a one-point demand if the government interrupts the long march.

He made the remark on Saturday while speaking at a roadside rally at Shapla Chattar in the capital. The rally was organised ahead of the 11-party alliances long march to Chittagong.

Nahid Islam, also the Chief Whip of the opposition, said the long march would reach Chittagong despite any obstacles. 

“No matter how many obstacles come, the long march will reach Chattogram.''

He also warned those who are trying to become “new autocrats” that the long march would continue against them. 

“If the government blocks the long march, the six-point demand would turn into a one-point demand.” Nahid added.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman demanded the release of Sifat, who was arrested over allegations of making derogatory remarks about the Prime Minister during fuel and power crisis. 

“If anyone plays with the people’s rights, the people will not spare them”, he added.
