4 more die of measles, dengue in Khulna

Four people died of measles and dengue in Khulna division in the past 24 hours. Among them two died in Jhenaidah after being suspected of having measles, while two others died of dengue in Khulna district.

The information was disclosed in two separate reports issued by the Office of the Divisional Director of Health in Khulna on Thursday (September 10).

Khulna Divisional Director of Health Dr Sheikh Md Mosharraf Hossain said 284 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the division in the past 24 hours. Of them, 260 were admitted to government hospitals and 24 to private hospitals.

The highest number of admissions was recorded in Khulna district, with 95 patients, while 48 patients were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

From January 1 to September 10 this year, a total of 8,199 dengue patients have been reported in the division with 27 deaths. Currently, 930 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals across the division.

Meanwhile, 90 new suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals in the division over the past 24 hours. Khulna district recorded the highest number of admissions, with 21 patients.

During the same period, two people died in Jhenaidah after being suspected of having measles.

Following the deaths of four people and the detection of 374 new cases in a single day, the divisional health authorities have advised residents of all 10 districts to remain vigilant and follow health guidelines to prevent the spread of dengue and measles.
